Rip Blackstone

In December of 2023,  Rip "Coach" Blackstone, joined the Peace of Mind Educational Team.

Rip is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he obtained a B.S. in Accounting. After graduation, Rip attended US Law School, earning a J.D., and practiced law in Columbia for nine years. In 1991 he began my career as a math teacher at Heathwood Hall. At Heathwood, Rip has taught all levels of math from fifth grade upward and currently teaches courses ranging from Algebra to Multivariable Calculus. 

 

One of the highlights of his career came in 2016 when Rip was named SCISA High School Teacher of the Year, an award that he attributes to all the great students that he has been privileged to teach. Rip has also been an SAT and ACT math tutor for the past 10 years. Outside of the classroom, he has enjoyed coaching many sports and served as the head football coach from 2008-2010. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and working on crossword puzzles.
